The colour issue:
How to correctly visualise colours in an extreme weather environment?
The need for a colour-based visual communication system to be implemented within a digital screen in the middle of Atacama desert (North of Chile). The system should allow the correct visualisation of information in that extreme weather environment (during the day, night, fog or “camanchaca” conditions), and for mostly male workers with a high probability of colour blindness among them.
My role: consultant and researcher
The creation of a visual communication system to optimise the tasks of collecting and transporting minerals in the Atacama region, Chile. It consisted of a series of digital displays (colour and typography) that could be correctly visualised under different atmospheric conditions (fog, sun, rain, night), distances (road) and users (normal and colourblind observers, deuteranopes, protanopes and tritanopes).
